Ituloy at ilaban nyo lang! Wag magpapauga at magpapakabog. The LIS profession is super diverse, and for sure, you’ll find your space. You don’t have to be a certain type of person to be a librarian, whether introvert, extrovert, tahimik, or madaldal, there’s always a role for you. Plus, hindi siya boring like how some people think. Ang daming aspects ng LIS na pwedeng i-explore, from research, archiving, tech, as well as organizing events, doing publication materials. Also, just be yourself mga teh. Dedma sa bashers. Emz. Minsan may pressure na maging super formal or mag-tone down sa workplace, pero honestly, the field is evolving. Marami nang open-minded and supportive colleagues, so wag matakot to bring your authentic self. Find your community din, whether through organizations, professional associations, comimittees or kahit small circle lang ng colleagues na same vibes mo. Ang laki ng impact ng support system, lalo na sa work and career growth. I have small circle of friends like dito lang din dito sa UP Libraries. Batchmates ko sa pagpasok ko, I really appreciate them kasi ulitmo kamustahan sa group chat, minsan kapag may biyaya from UP ayun lalabas kami, mag kwentuhana lang ng kung ano-ano. Super light yung feeling you have an outlet na nalalabasan ng mga rants, minsan mga chismis, minsan yung mga small accomplishments or minsan happy moments lang sa work. So find your group. And lastly, don’t underestimate your impact. As an LGBTQIA+ LIS professional, you bring a unique perspective that can make libraries and information spaces more dynamic and engaging. So just do your thing. Rumampa ka!
